Important Points To Remember Make Reservations Early. ALL PARTICIPANTS HAVE A DUTY TO ACT, AS WOULD ANY REASONABLY PRUDENT PERSON WHILE ENGAGING IN THESE TYPES OF ACTIVITIES. Please Note! Due to the lack of consideration on the part of a few, we are forced to strictly enforce our deposit policy. As of January 1, 2003, if you are making a reservation with us for any activity, a 50% deposit will be mandatory within 10 days of your original request. If payment is not made, your reservation will be canceled. The only exception to this policy will be for group leaders who have built a dependable relationship with us over the last 20+ years. Is This For Me? PHYSICAL EXERTION IS INVOLVED, BOTH ON & OFF THE RIVER AND YOU SHOULD BE IN RELATIVELY GOOD HEALTH TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS SPORT. Walking to and/or from the river is required at each of our locations. Some upper body strength and a full range of motion are needed to paddle the boat. Most importantly, self-rescue may become necessary in the event of an incident on the river. We don’t believe in the term “disabled” and will make every effort to overcome any challenges guests present should they have the desire to paddle with us. Over the last 25+ years, we have successfully dealt with every issue imaginable and each time the person had a wonderful time, with many fulfilling a life-long wish in the process. ACO reserves the right to deny access to the river to people who are grossly overweight due either to safety concerns or low water levels. We must adhere to manufacturers’ guidelines pertaining to all equipment used in the participation of this sport. If you weigh in excess of 300 pounds, it is not recommended you paddle with us, except at above average river levels or higher. Top of PageThe Weather We have no control over the weather. All trips will proceed as scheduled, with the exception of dangerous weather or extremely low water. Adventure Calls reserves the right to change locations of river trips due to water levels. If a trip is canceled as a result of the aforementioned conditions, we will either reschedule or refund your monies.
Dressing For Rafting What you wear will have a large impact on your experience with us! COTTON IS ABSOLUTELY THE WORST POSSIBLE MATERIAL TO WEAR IN COOL WEATHER WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO BE WET. Wools or synthetics are acceptable. Polar fleece or wool socks are best, otherwise wear synthetics. A ski-type hat is essential, as are wool gloves. Also, as we phase out wet tops and replace them with waterproof splash tops, it is advisable to wear a heavy shirt or sweater underneath. You are responsible for your footwear. Wetsuits are required in the early spring and late fall. When we require them, individuals under 65 pounds are not allowed to participate. In warmer weather, shorts and T-shirts will suffice. Sneakers or secure sandals are always mandatory. Although you may not need it, bring a nylon jacket. In warm weather, the minimum weight requirement drops to 50 pounds. Top of Page |
